The Client specializes in providing domain specific content. The Business Need The Client was registering a visible interest in blogging and even in a it’s short life of existence, the company had about 20 millions active bloggers. This made it pertinent to have a search engine that could enable users to search relevant content from this huge number of blogs. Basically it called for a web scrapper that could crawl any number of web pages on the basis of some regular expression supplied to it.  This configuration includes various parameters like no. of pages, crawl method, crawl depth, regex etc. Data cached by this application is also to be used throughout the blog and news search engine. Developing a blog search engine was a tedious affair and required specialists who could provide an active search engine within the shortest possible time. The Client was particularly eyeing companies that employed highly skilled engineering resources who were capable of meeting the stringent deadline even while not compromising on the quality. The Solution The project was very challenging for BrickRed because no examples were available on the same. One of the biggest challenge before the team was to reduce the time required to search 20 million + blogs to less than a second even while being robust enough to search all the blogs. The team also undertook rigorous low-level testing that included countless case studies. On an average a single unit testing was done with about 70 test cases.
